OBAMA’S WORST DAY IN AFGHANISTAN AND WHAT IT COULD MEAN FOR US FOREIGN POLICY AND HILLARY CLINTON

FROM APOLLOSPEAKS' TOWNHALL ARCHIVES

2009-10-27 16:41 --OBAMA'S WORST DAY IN AFGHANISTAN AND WHAT IT COULD MEAN FOR US FOREIGN POLICY AND HILLARY CLINTON

        Vietnam                                Afghanistan

On the very day Hillary Clinton was celebrating her first birthday as Secretary of State,  and Barack Obama was meeting with his national security team in a conference on Afghanistan, tragedy struck US forces in that country. For two seperate accidents involving three helicopters-one crashing to the ground and two colliding in mid air-claimed the lives of 14 Americans. This was the single most deadliest day in Afghanistan since the ill-starred Obama took office; and as enemy fire wasn't the cause of either crash it may be ominous of terrible disasters to come for our troops and national security due to Obama's feckless, inept, demoralizing leadership.

 Richard Engel

Consider this: NBC Mideast correspondent Richard Engel was supposed to be the 11th person aboard one of the crashed helicopters (see). When asked by Charlie Rose in a recent interview if we "should get out of Afghanistan" Engels answered in the affirmative (see). Engel was born September 16, 1973 seven months after the signing of the Paris Peace accords that ended the Vietnam War. Our training and arming of the South Vietnamese, called Vietnamization, proved futile as they were easily overrun by the communist North once we deserted them. Is Providence having spared Engel's life a warning sign that Obama's strategy in Afghanistan will mean the North Vietnamese-like triumph of the Taliban and Al Qaida over the country and return to pre-9/11 rule?

Moreover, Hillary Clinton's birth on October 26, 1947 coincided with the withdrawal of Great Britain's military forces from Iraq* ending a six year occupation. This is the same Great Britain that fought three wars in Afghanistan, two in the 19th century and one in the 20th, and returned to Iraq with US forces in 2003. Will we abandon Afghanistan and Iraq only to return to fight our enemies all over again?

But the bad omens pile up. For yesterday was the 42nd anniversary of John McCain's tragic flight over North Vietnam* when his plane was shot down during a bombing run. McCain, a leading proponent of McChrystal's counterinsurgency plan, was captured by the enemy during the Johnson administration and spent five and a half horrific years in a communist jail where he endured torture and inhuman abuse. This too links Afghanistan and Vietnam.

*McCain's plane was shot down October 26, 1967.

Furthermore, yesterday would have been the 87th birthday of Madelyn Dunham, Barack Obama's grandmother who died of cancer one day before his election victory last year-an unmistakable sign of her grandson's failure as president and tragic destiny now tied into yesterday's disaster in Afghanistan.

14 Americans died yesterday, ten soldiers and four civilians. When we multiply this number by 139 it gives us the sum 1946. This indicates the year when the First Indochina War began between Imperial France and Ho Cho Minh's Red Army. Ho's defeat of the French in 1954 is what drew us militarily into the Vietnam conflict.

Moreover, 1946 was also the year George Bush was born the President who sent us into Afghanistan in pursuit of al Qaida and into Iraq to topple Saddam. It was also the year that John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon won their first Congressional races-this kicked off their political careers culminating in the presidency. It was Kennedy who first ordered US military intervention in Vietnam* (four months after Obama was born) and Nixon who ended it resulting in disaster caused by an anti-war Democrat Congress. Furthermore, Obama and Nixon are the only presidents in US history to inherit wars from presidents of the opposite party-both Texans.

*December 11, 1961 (see note 1).

It is reported that Obama's greatest fear is Afghanistan hijacking his presidency and overshadowing his domestic agenda as happened to the hapless LBJ (see). Obama is right to fear this outcome. We are in Afghanistan to fight and defeat the jihadists who attacked us on 9/11 and are at war with the Western/Democratic world;  but you'd never know it from Obama who refuses to define our mission and puropse in this war. If he continues down this path of feckless leadership he is likely to end up the new LBJ with Afghanistan (and Iraq?) becoming his Vietnam disaster. When Obama delivered his acceptance speech at the Democratic Convention last year it was the day following the centennial of LBJ's birth*. Was this a sign to him and us that his fate would be as tragic as LBJ's who left the presidency a sad, broken man?

*August 27, 2008 was the 100th anniversary of LBJ's birth.

Obama who is half the man LBJ was has tragedy, misfortune, failure and defeat written all over him.  Yesterday's terrible military accident is a sign that Obama is likely to make the very worst decisions for our national security*  and pull out our forces precipitously from Afghanistan-and possibly Iraq thus giving us two Vietnams in one presidency.

*The Taliban returning to power means a return or regression to the pre-9/11 era with possible attacks on our homeland once again originating from Afghanistan. They will not forget that we drove them from power and all the jihadists we captured and killed. Vengence not peace will be their policy toward us if they prevail.

Did providence in part intervene in saving Richard Engel's life because his date of birth is a warning that unless we untie the hands of our forces in Afghanistan and fight to win we'll lose the country to Al Qaida and the Taliban like we did South Vietnam to the North?  Whatever. This tragedy occurring on Hillary Clinton's birthday could be a sign that she'll regret having been Barack Obama's Secretary of State as it might ruin her designs on the presidency, if she still has them.

NOTES:

 1. On December 11, 1961 the U.S. aircraft carrier "Core" arrived in Saigon with 33 helicopters and 400 air and ground crewmen assigned to operate them for the South Vietnamese Army. Also, U.S. pilots started to train and fly support missions with the South Vietnamese Air Force. This really marks the first larger scale participation of U.S. military "advisors" in Vietnam.

APPEASEMENT GONE WILD: US CONDEMNS KILLING OF IRANIAN GUARD TERRORISTS

FROM APOLLOSPEAKS' TOWNHALL ARCHIVES 2009-10-19 07:22:20 -- APPEASEMENT GONE WILD: US CONDEMNS KILLING OF IRANIAN GUARD TERRORISTS

Hitler's conference room at Rastenburg soon after assassination attempt with briefcase bomb

The United States on Sunday condemned a suicide bombing that struck Iran's élite, terrorist Revolutionary Guards killing five top commanders. In response to Iran accusing America of the plot State Department Spokesman Ian Kelly said, "We condemn this act of terrorism and mourn the loss of innocent lives. Reports of US involvement are completely false," Kelly assured the Islamonazi regime in Tehran (read more).

"Innocent lives?" To understand just how insane this is imagine the Roosevelt Administration during World War II condemning Colonel van Stauffenberg (played by Tom Cruise in the film Valkyrie) and the German officers who came close to blowing Hitler to bits with a briefcase bomb in his headquarters at Rastenburg.

These murdered "innocent" Revolutionary Guard leaders are cold-blooded genocidal killers who may very well have the blood of US servicemen on their hands going back to the Beirut barracks bombing in 1982, the Khobar Towers' bombing 14 years later and more recent killings of US soldiers on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan.

When issuing the statement the Obama Administration just plumb forgot about the Kyle-Lieberman Bill passed by the Senate in September 2007 listing the Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization. Then again, maybe it didn't forget as then Senator Barack Obama opposed the bill calling it "provocative."

Postscript: 10-20-09

After the State Department's condemnation of Sunday's terrorist attack in Southeastern Iran that killed six Iranian Revolutionary Guard commanders the Revolutionary Guard swore revenge on Britain and the US for funding, training and arming Jundollah, the anti-mullah Sunni group that planned and executed the atttack. Differing from the Revolutionary Guard Kayhan, the influential pro-government newspaper, accused Israel's Mossad of being behind the attack.

Jundollah says it is fighting the mulllahs to end discrimination against Iran's 6 million Sunni Moslems. Both Britain and the US deny any connection with the group. Israel, to my knowledge, has denied nothing. Pakistani intelligence claims that Jundollah receives support from the Taliban; and that arms supplied to the Taliban by Iran have found their way to Jundollah.

CHURCHILL’S BANISHED BUST AND OBAMA’S MOSLEM OUTREACH FIASCO

FROM APOLLOSPEAKS' TOWNHALL ARCHIVES
2009-10-13 06:35--CHURCHILL'S BANISHED BUST AND OBAMA'S MOSLEM OUTREACH FIASCO
Winston Churchill: An heroic man of blood, sweat, toil and tears. The antithesis of  Obama the weakling.
In February when Barack Obama banished Winston Churchill's priceless bronze bust from the White House-a 9/11 gift on loan from Britain-he was telling the world that his model for diplomacy and foreign policy would be Neville Chamberlain, not Winston Churchill.

Eight months later and Obama hasn't disappointed us as he has given new meaning to the word appeasement and the discredited policies that led humanity into the hell of World War II. Indeed, after 267 days of lurching from one foreign policy blunder to another what rational person would doubt that if Obama had been Britain's prime minister in 1938 that he would have suffered Neville Chamberlain's fate at Munich with Hitler turning him into one of  history's biggest and most tragic fools?
The Nobel Committee sees in Obama a huge potential for becoming one of history's great peacemakers; but as Britain's PM in 1938 he would have given us the most horrific war in history all the same. What else can be said of the man who wants to abolish nuclear weapons and return mankind to the great power wars of the past? The pre-nuclear world that turned the 20th century into a graveyard for millions and gave us the Holocaust? There is no peacemaker in Barack Obama; no man of blood, sweat, toil and tears-no "spine of steel;" only a weak appeasing ill-fated fool who dreams of peace but doesn't know the way.
Obama delivering his message to the Moslem world from Cairo University. A man who believes that his words are mighty deeds and all he needs do is speak to move mountains.
The Collapse of Obama's Moslem Outreach Initiative
Obama's biggest foreign policy fiasco to date has been his Moslem Outreach Initiative which he kicked off with his speech in Cairo last June. Obama naïvely believed that with his Moslem roots, Arabic middle name and (overrated) oratorical gifts-he would mesmerize the Moslem masses into adoring him; and winning over their hearts and minds he'd undo and repair all the damage that was done to US-Moslem relations during the Bush years. For the Islamic world to fall at his feet and sing his praises all that Obama need do was deliver a stirring speech from a Moslem capital flattering Islam and its accomplishments, real or imagined; and show himself an honest broker in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict by condemning Israel's West Bank settlements as illegal and morally wrong.
But that hasn't happened. Predictably Obama's self-serving plan to plant his cult of personality in the Moslem world has miserably backfired and failed. And it's not hard to understand why. Islam is a militant religion based on power and strength, founded by a man of blood and guts who killed and murdered his way to power, glory and renown; and Moslems see nothing of their heroic founder in Obama-nothing of his forceful, domineering, ruthless personality; nothing worthy of adulation, honor, respect or fear. Unsurprisingly, the Sunni-Arab street is disillusioned with Obama*; disillusioned because he has done nothing to reverse the damage done to Sunnism by Bush's invasion of Iraq** and Israel's humiliating "occupation" of the "Palestinian" West Bank (see).
*Obama spoke from Cairo a Sunni-Arab capital
**The toppling of Saddam ended 1000 years of Sunni control of Iraq.
Until Iraq is restored to Sunni-Arab rule, and Israel is forced to dismantle its settlements, the Sunni street will continue to see Obama as a weak and impotent leader unworthy to be head of the most powerful nation on earth. Surely the Sunnis at this point have more respect for Obama's hated predecessor as he ordered the destruction of the fearsome Saddam and the murdering, terrorist Taliban and proved himself a valiant warrior like their founder.

FROM NOTHING NOTHING COMES-OBAMA AND THE PEACE PRIZE

FROM APOLLOSPEAKS' TOWNHALL ARCHIVES

2009-10-12 05:31:15.000 --FROM NOTHING NOTHING COMES

that the Nobel Peace Prize

The wrong stuff for Nobel Prize.

Our malignant narcissist in chief sucks up to our enemies and kisses world a$$, showing them that he loves them more than America, and the world responds by saying NOBAMA. No to everything from Russia agreeing to tough sanctions on Iran to Europeans sending more troops to Afghanistan; from Israel freezing West Bank settlements to Honduras giving Zalaya back his job. And for his harmlessness and fecklessness, his toothless turning of the cheek, and not being another butt kicking Bush, Obama is awarded a Nobel Prize.

Good work, Mr. President! Never has achieving nothing for America or anyone been so richly rewarded. Never has inaction and gutlessness  won such a prize. With good reason you're the first US President in history whose last name begins with ZERO. As Shakespeare said:

"From nothing nothing comes."

And as there's nothing of the peacemaker in you no peace for mankind will come from you.

MEDVEDEV’S PRAISE OF OBAMA’S NOBEL PRIZE AND ITS MEANING

FROM APOLLOSPEAKS' TOWNHALL ARCHIVES

2009-10-11 12:10:54.000  MEDVEDEV'S PRAISE OF OBAMA'S NOBEL PRIZE AND ITS MEANING

A cold, stiff, unfriendly Medvedev's shaking Obama's hand.Upon learning of Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize Russian President Dmitry Medvedev had this to say:

"I hope this decision would serve as an additional incentive for our common work to form a new climate in world politics and promote initiatives which are fundamentally important for global security."

What this means is the following:

Now that the Nobel Committee has given its blessing to Obama's doctrine of peace through apology, appeasement and retreat Medeved is hoping that the unearned Nobel Prize will encourage Obama to continue down the path of diminishing American power so that Russia can replace us on the great world stage.

This is the "zero sum game" that Obama said in his UN speech was obsolete in our day and age. Maybe so for him, maybe for Europe, maybe for the Leftist Nobel Committee; but not for Putin's Russia and our predatory enemies who are eager to see us fall from the pinnacle of world power, and will gladly engage with Obama in castrating us. That is to say, our enemies see Obama's policy of engagement as cooperating with him in the weakening of American power.

DISARMAMENT THROUGH ARGUMENT, APPEASEMENT AND WEAKNESS

FROM APOLLOSPEAKS' TOWNHALL ARCHIVES

2009-10-10 09:28 -- DISARMAMENT THROUGH ARGUMENT, APPEASEMENT AND WEAKNESS

At the end of his ill-starred presidency, from the international chaos he'll almost certainly have created from his appeasement policies and diminishing of US power, will an unsmiling, tragic, sad  Obama return the Peace Prize he didn't deserve?

The Norwegians awarded Obama the Peace Prize because they share his infantile views of talking the world into peace and nuclear disarmament. Doubtless the members of the Nobel Committee were greatly impressed with Obama last spring when he assured Benjamin Netanyahu that military action against Iran wouldn't be necessary because he Obama would save the day and take Israel out of harms way with "an argument that would persuade the Iranians to abandon their nuclear weapons program (see)." No sanctions, no embargoes, no military strikes; argument is the way to disarmament and peace. This is why I call Obama "the Michael Jackson of American politics (see)," and why Sarkozy-his best friend among world leaders-mocked him for his dangerous reality problem (see).

Bill O'Reily is wrong: awarding Obama this undeserved prize is not without its consequences as it reinforces his delusions of self-grandeur, his utopian views of peace through soft power diplomacy, appeasement and weakness; and his insane mission to diminish American power and excepetionalism and appease a world injured by American greatness, greed, arrogance, warmongering and George Bush*. Obama sees the Peace Prize as a sign to stay his dangerous course as he blindly leads America and the world into conflict, crisis and war.

*The 2009 Peace Prize was in reality the Bush Derangement Syndrome Award.

Postscript: Deserving the Undeserved Prize

Obama is a petty, small-minded, vainglorious man who under the guise of deep humility said that he was undeserving of the prize; then grabbed it greedily with both hands because it flattered his false self-image as a great historical personality and rarely gifted man. If he didn't deserve the prize for lack of accomplishments these last ten months it nevertheless, for him, was a sign of great achievements to come-expectations shared by the Nobel Committee who took a page from The Audacity of Hope when they voted to give him the prize.

THE FINAL WORD ON OBAMA’S NOBEL PRIZE

FROM APOLLOSPEAKS' TOWNHALL ARCHIVES

2009-10-10 15:12:47.000 - THE FINAL WORD ON OBAMA'S NOBEL PRIZE

  Alfred Nobel

What would have been more shocking than President Obama receiving an undeserved Nobel Peace Prize is what the Nobel Committee would likely have done if John McCain were the 44th President. Indeed, the decision to award Obama the prize was so anti-Bush and nakedly politicized that if he had lost the race in 2008 he would probably have won the prize anyway-as a slap in the face to John McCain and a boost for Obama's 2012 campaign*.

*Because Obama is the politically correct President Norway wants America to have the partisan Nobel Committee would have had his victory in 2012 uppermost in their minds when deciding the winner of the 09 Peace Prize.

PostScript

Senator Obama would have won the prize for his compelling vision of engagement, diplomacy, multilateralism and the use of soft power for resolving international conflicts; and, of course, for his dream of an egalitarian world order free of nuclear weapons living in brotherhood, peace and shared prosperity. Obama's efforts to end the looming  existential (farcical)  threat of global warming would also have been cited as a reason for giving him the prize.

In their statement awarding Obama the prize the Nobel Committee would have done its best to shame and humiliate the American people for having missed their chance for national redemption and global transformation when McCain won the race on Election Day-giving the world four more years of Bush's unilateralism, bellicosity and swaggering warmongering cowboy foreign policy.

TEDDY ROOSEVELT, BARACK OBAMA AND THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE (WITH A POSTSCRIPT ON WOODROW WILSON)

FROM APOLLOSPEAKS' TOWNHALL ARCHIVES

2009-10-09 09:23:41.000 - TEDDY ROOSEVELT, BARACK OBAMA AND THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE (WITH A POSTSCRIPT ON WOODROW WILSON)

Rough riding peacemaker                  No rough rider or peacemaker he

There was a time when the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to people who truly advanced the cause of peace in the world with solid international achievements. Now it's given to leaders who simply have good intentions and politically correct views with absolutely no accomplishments of note to their names. Compare the blind, bungling Barack Obama to the hard headed realist Teddy Roosevelt* who truly earned and deserved the award for negotiating an end to the Russo-Japanese War. Roosevelt, the rough riding hero of San Juan Hill, who lived by the rule "Speak softly and carry a big stick," won the respect of world leaders with his toughness, good sense and forceful personality when negotiating peace. Obama's world standing, on the other hand, is so pathetically low that Nicolas Sarkozy publicly mocked him for his immaturity and serious reality problems-which are having the unintended effect of emboldening our enemies and making the world a more dangerous place (see). "Speak softly and carry a toothpick" is Obama's approach to dealing with our foes and deterring them from evil-a recipe for disaster.

*Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson and Obama are the only sitting US President's to receive the award. Wilson received the award in 1919 for founding the League of Nations.

Today's mindless and dishonorable decision by the Nobel Committee to award the Peace Prize to a well meaning but muddleheaded President who is unconsciously sowing the seeds of conflict and war is further proof that the award has been drained of all substance, worth and meaning.

This was an anticipatory award based on the expectation that Obama's false image as a world transformational figure is his true destiny, and that he's fated to make a unique and historic difference for peace in the world (see). In reality, given his moral and mental deficiencies which are considerable, his destiny is the exact opposite as he is playing a very destructive role both domestically and globally out of which, I believe, much good will come in the long run.
Postscript I: The North Korean Bomb, A.Q. Khan and Bin Ladin's Nuclear Bomb Maker

Ironically the Norwegians awarded Obama their prize in part for his "attempts to curb nuclear proliferation," on the third anniversary of nuclear proliferator North Korea detonating its first atom bomb*. This is the same Obama who was silent when rogue nuclear Pakistani scientist A.Q. Khan-who shared nuclear secrets with Iran, Libya and North Korea-was released from house arrest after five years and free to travel anywhere**.

This is hardly a good sign that Obama's crusade to ban the bomb will be successful in stopping Russia (and North Korea)ally Iran from going nuclear; or preventing bin-Ladin from getting a  low yield nuke-today we learned that French authorities arrested a nuclear scientist charging him with being a bomb maker for al-Qaida.

*The Norks exploded a nuclear device on October 9, 2006.

**Khan was released on February 6th just five days after Obama's name was submitted as a nominee for the Peace Prize.

Postscript II: Did Woodrow Wilson Deserve the Peace Prize?

The answer in yes. Wilson ruined his health and nearly killed himself in a cross country campaign to persuade America to join the League of Nations. Wrong though he was Wilson passionately believed that the League was the answer to world peace and that America's membership was crucial to making it work. Due to Wilson's efforts at Versailles the League became an accomplished fact, and for that he richly deserved the prize-however worthless as a peacemaker the League turned out to be.
